Community Spotlight: Emerson Lee

If we’ve collaborated together, you’ve probably heard me rave about my deathy friend Emerson Lee. I first heard about Emerson at a Seattle Town Hall event featuring Alua Arthur. Someone in the audience asked Alua a question about dementia at the end-of-life and, in response, Alua told us about Emerson, a former student of hers who works with these exact questions. I reached out to Emerson and in so doing made a friend and colleague who I cherish.

Emerson wears a long sleeve yellow sweater and green headband. Emerson has fair skin, blonde hair pulled back and is smiling right at the camera. Around them are small green cacti with yellow flowers. Bubbles are floating in the air.

Emerson is a dementia readiness coach, life enrichment specialist and death worker with years of experience working in memory care. While experiences of dementia are common, it is rare to meet End-of-Life professionals who are both knowledgeable and experienced at supporting individuals and families who are navigating that journey. It is certainly a growing edge for me. Emerson’s passion and skill is untruly unmatched.

That dementia expertise alone is invaluable but on top of it all Emerson is also warm, welcoming and deeply compassionate. For me, talking with Emerson feels like drinking a warm, restorative cup of chamomile tea sprinkled with golden sprinkles of hope. I always feel seen and embraced when we connect and I know Emerson’s clients feel that way, too. Emerson offers virtual workshops perfect for those who are afraid of how dementia might impact them. I highly recommend them for all of us.
